First Thoughts: Maroon 5 Ft. Christina Aguilera, "Moves Like Jagger"

So they released the video for the Maroon 5/Xtina joint yesterday. What do you think?

Personally, if we're looking for a video with impersonators, I'm going to go with the Poly Styrene video with all the Michael Jackson impersonators we showed yesterday. And if you want songs that mention Jagger, I'll take Cher Lloyd's "Swagger Jagger."

What do you say?

When Did MTV Die?

For this week's Your Say Hump Day, we've got an easy one for you. We want to know when you think MTV died, when it stopped being classic MTV.

You Can Now Take A Cruise With Weezer To An Island In The Sun

Weezer is doing one of those celebrity cruise things that seem to be popular among a lot of the hair bands I used to follow. Weezer will be performing on the cruise along with Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, Gene Ween and Dave Dreiwitz, Wavves, The Antlers, Yuck, Free Energy, Boom Bip, J. Mascis, Lou Barlow, Keepaway, Ozma, The Nervous Wreckords, The Knocks, Sleeper Agent, and Yacht Rock Review. It's like Lollapalooza on a ship!

I've always wondered what happens on these things if you're the talent. When you perform a normal concert, you run backstage when it's done or sneak out the back, and you're done. You have no further interaction with the fans. But on a cruise, you're stuck. I mean, you could stay in your cabin when you're not performing, but those things are way too tiny for that. So what do you do? Mingle with the unwashed?

For this week's Your Say Hump Day, we want you to design your own concert cruise. Tell us what bands you'd have play at your gig. And feel free to give it a cool or cheesy name!

NME Gets It Dreadfully Wrong

I'm an Anglophile, so I love NME. To celebrate the launch of their new video site, NME published a list of the Top 100 Videos Of All Time. To save you a click, here's the Top 10:
  1. "Hurt," Johnny Cash
  2. "Just," Radiohead
  3. "Wicked Game," Chris Isaak
  4. "Black Hole Sun," Soundgarden
  5. "All Is Full Of Love," Bjork
  6. "Everlong," Foo Fighters
  7. "Buddy Holly," Weezer
  8. "Sabotage," Beastie Boys
  9. "Vidrar Vel Til Loftarasa," Sigur Ros
  10. "Smack My Bitch Up," The Prodigy
For this week's Your Say Hump Day, we want to know if you think any of these videos belong in a discussion of the top 10 videos of all time.

The Voice: Who Ya Got?

I've been watching and loving The Voice for the past two months. While it's made me long for a weekly Cee Lo Green variety show, I've also loved watching the different contestants along the way.

But tonight, it all comes to an end. A winner will be crowned. That person will walk away with $100,00 and a recording contract.

So who do you think it will be?

You can make a case for any of the four contestants:
  • Javier Colon probably has the purest voice of anyone in the competition
  • Dia Frampton, with her rockstar name and indie queen looks, can make any song hers
  • Every time Vicci Martinez hits the stage, you know you're in for a Performance
But for me, no one can hold a candle to Beverly McClellan. I love her voice and her look, but most of all, I love her attitude. She just seems so happy, so into it, every time she hits the stage. Like it's something she HAS to be doing.

So for this week's Your Say Hump Day, we want to know who you think will win The Voice. Have your say in the comments!

Lady Gaga's Born This Way Becomes The 17th Album To Sell A Million Copies Since The Introduction of SoundScan

Lady Gaga's Born This Way sold 1,108,000 copies this week (as one of us predicted at the end of 2010), making it the 17th album to sell over a million copies in its initial week since SoundScan was implemented in 1991.

Let's have a look at the seventeen albums that have sold over a million copies during their debut week in the past twenty years:
  • Backstreet Boys, Black & Blue
  • Backstreet Boys, Millennium
  • The Beatles, 1
  • Garth Brooks, Double Live
  • Eminem, The Eminem Show
  • Eminem, The Marshal Mathers LP
  • 50 Cent, The Massacre
  • Whitney Houston, The Bodyguard Soundtrack
  • Norah Jones, Feels Like Home
  • Lady Gaga, Born This Way
  • Lil Wayne, Tha Carter III
  • Limp Bizkit, Chocolate Starfish & The Hot Dog Flavored Water
  • 'N Sync, Celebrity
  • 'N Sync, No Strings Attached
  • Britney Spears, Oops!... I Did It Again
  • Taylor Swift, Speak Now
  • Usher, Confessions
For the most part, that's an awful list, right? Who owns this crap?

Confession: I own 4 albums on this list (Gaga, Britney, and both Eminem albums).

So for this week's Your Say Hump Day, tell us how many of these seventeen albums you own.

Be honest.

Be brave.

First Look: Beyonce, "Run The World (Girls)"

Beyonce premiered her new video tonight. While I'm still not a fan of the song, I do like the video.

What do you say? Do you like the song? How about the video?

New Video: Britney Spears, "Til The World Ends"

Great. All those people are right. The world really is going to end in 2012. Britney said so, y'all.

But not before we have an epic Mad Max-style dance party in the sewers. Rock!

What do you think of the video?

And The New Lara Croft Is...

Yesterday, Hollywood announced they're going ahead iwth a Tomb Raider remake. So far, the only thing that's been announced is that Graham King (The Departed, Our Town) will be the producer.

No writer has been attached to the remake.

No director has been attached to the remake.

And most importantly, no actress has been announced to take over for Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.

So for this week's Your Say Hump Day, we want to know which actress you'd like to see portray Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider remake.
