Babyshambles, "Killamangiro"

From 2004, here's Babyshambles with "Killamangiro."

Enjoy!

OK Go: Now With More Puppies

Someone must have told OK Go that the only thing missing from their innovative, hyperkinetic videos is... puppies. With their "White Knuckles," the guys can now check that box.

OK Go is the go-to band for hooky, white-boy pop, and I don't begrudge them that -- even though the first time I heard one of their songs was during a JC Penny commercial.

Judge them if you will, but you know you thought that treadmill video for "Here It Goes Again" was cool. And the song was catchy.

Every video OK Go creates is basically an endurance test for the band. (Check out their Rube Goldberg production for "This Too Shall Pass," or their time-lapse dance marathon for "End Love.") They love to create intricate scenarios that require one loooooooong shot. We're always impressed and left wondering, "How the hell did they do that and how many attempts did it take?" Word on the Interwebz for "White Knuckles" is that the guys (and dogs) nailed it on Take #74. I scrutinized it to find an edit spot, or evidence of some kind of computer enhancement. As far as I can tell, they're clean.

The song itself is pretty groovy. When I first heard it, I couldn’t quite figure out why it was so familiar, and then it hit me: they're actually channeling a little Prince here. "White Knuckles" could pass for "I Would Die 4 U," if you slowed the latter down and dialed back the funk levels.

My proclamation for "White Knuckles?" The video: full-on awesome, with bonus points for puppy performance. The song: moderately cool, but probably only has a three-month shelf life.

Sex With A Muppet

You may remember we made fun of Katy Perry and Elmo's disastrous "Hot And Cold" video a few weeks back. Well, College Humor is making fun of it, too, with a sexed-up rendition of "Teenage Dream."

My favorite part? Elmo's worried face when Cookie Monster shows up for the ménage à trois.

His Name Is Prince, And He Is Funky

Yesterday I read something that made me very, very, happy. Prince held a press conference (cuz that's how he rolls) to announce he's going on tour! He's calling it the Welcome 2 America tour and Prince will play and MC it. It will include performances by Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, and Cassandra Wilson.

Prince, Cassandra Wilson, and Janelle Monae? I'm in.

I've been wanting to see Prince live for years. No further info on when and where the shows will be, other than they start in December.

Is there an artist you've always wanted to see live? Will you shell out to see Prince on tour? Does anyone else dig the Janelle Monae ArchAndroid Album as much as I do?

Barfy

Do you know who Barfy is? Barfy is one of the family dogs from The Family Circus.

Do you know what barfy is? Barfy is how I feel after hearing 20th Century Fox is making The Family Circus, one of the unfunniest comic strips of all time, into a movie.

Why?

Who will see this movie? Not me.

But The Dysfunctional Family Circus?

That I could get behind.

The Lightning Seeds, "Pure"

From 1990, here's "Pure" from The Lightning Seeds.

Enjoy!

Emo Mad Max

Animal porn, creepy guys in white mask, weapon vending machines, some bald dude, and the guys from My Chemical Romance.

Nothing good ever happens in the desert.

Nice Going McFly!

Back To The Future is arguably one of the most perfect movies ever made.  It's certainly one of the best of the 80s, hands down.  It made us want a DeLorean and a mad scientist for a best friend.  But did you know that the role of Marty McFly, made iconic by Michael J. Fox, was originally played by Eric Stoltz?

I had always heard that they shot a portion of the movie with Stoltz, but had never seen any footage.  But as a part of the special Blu-Ray release of BTTF, we can now see what could have been if only Eric Stoltz had been deemed funny by Steven Spielberg.
