Although, not so much with actors because their art is donning a role and I can value the art/role separately. (Plus, a lot of actors just seem crazy.) But artists who are creating in mediums that are an extension of themselves (music, art, writing) yeah, their behavior does influence my reaction.

So sometimes I just go on interview reading hiatus.the weirdgirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17488089778646205633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8350642370729096785.post-47916356237680328272010-09-06T14:53:29.865-04:002010-09-06T14:53:29.865-04:00I was just listening to my Sounds of the Smiths CD...I was just listening to my Sounds of the Smiths CD this morning. (Feeling particularly angsty, I guess...). I agree that with Morrissey, it's hard to tell exactly what he's actually thinking.

When other creative folk get racist/sexist/homophobic or downright rotten, I do tend to stop favoring their work. I've never been a major Mel Gibson fan, for example, but even if I was, I wouldn't be able to divorce his work from his asshole-itude.Didactic Piratehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08830868605102168918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8350642370729096785.post-51067978907090710252010-09-06T12:43:44.383-04:002010-09-06T12:43:44.383-04:00I agree. With Morrissey and certain other artists, I think a good bit of the more outrageous things they say is because they like to press people's buttons and get people talking about them. Like we're doing right now.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05810156368520745972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8350642370729096785.post-54871452605828190532010-09-06T12:37:00.926-04:002010-09-06T12:37:00.926-04:00Is buying a CD from an outspoken artist mean you&#...Is buying a CD from an outspoken artist mean you're aligning yourself with that artist's views? No.

When the line crosses from outspoken to hate speech, I can't ignore it, though with Morrissey, I don't how much he truly believes what he says, or he's just being "controversial" just 'cause... I suspect it's a little bit of both.KPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13319865543116751911noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8350642370729096785.post-35704675693143426452010-09-06T12:08:16.553-04:002010-09-06T12:08:16.553-04:00You raise a great point here.

They still play "Rock and Roll Part 2" at many sporting events attended by children.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05810156368520745972noreply@blogger.com
