The first trailer for the 21 Jump Street film starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum was released to the internet yesterday. It's a red band trailer, so it's a little bit naughty - maybe don't listen to it at work. Here goes:
I do appreciate that they made a crack about the guys looking 40 because, you know, they pretty much are. Channing's in his 30s. Anyway, I felt kind of "meh" about the whole thing. You?

The 21 Jump Street Comedy Film?
LINK | Posted by archphoenix on Friday, February 11, 2011
Awhile back I'd heard that there was a big screen version of 21 Jump Street in the works, being driven by Jonah Hill. And I gagged. I like Jonah, actually, but in Jump Street? Really?Anyway, I recently ran across this article on Cinematical with some new details. Details that made me gag a little more. It's now Jonah Hill (Superbad, Get Him To The Greek) and Channing Tatum (Step Up 2, G.I. Joe: Rise Of The Cobra) and they, well let me paste the info:
The original series dealt with young officers zipping back to high school and college to combat young ne'er-do-wells. Now, however, the plot points are getting a bit of a twist. Tatum says the film will be "more like Back To The Future," where you "get to go back and relive your high-school life." And just in case that wasn't confusing enough, their characterizations in the film aren't what you would expect. Hill will be "the cool one" while Tatum is "the loser."Also, they're trying to get Johnny Depp to make a cameo. (Run Johnny, run!) So, uhm, anyone still interested in this?
As for the plot, it will revolve around a new drug that's plaguing a high school; Tatum and Hill try to stop it at its source. Tatum went on to say that the film has "fantasy" moments and -- no surprise considering Hill's involvement -- lots of comedy. "I've never read a script that I'm like, 'How are they letting us do this?' I don't even mean the censoring board. I'm like, 'No, I can't believe they're going to put this in a movie.' It's freaking ridiculous."
