For this edition of Seven Questions In Heaven, we're speaking with Rebecca Huston, a.k.a. Bermuda Bonnie, who just released the fantastic Drama last week on cassette tape. She spoke with us about her sound, her influences, high school drama, cassette tapes, and aliens.Describe your music for our readers who may not be familiar with you.
Um... I wrote this on the SoundCloud page and I just love the vibe of it. Here it is: Bermuda Bonnie is that thing of when you fall asleep on a blanket in the breeze and a vivid dream takes over. You are being rescued by the guy from Princess Bride, galloping on the back of his riding horse, and ducking arrows. Then you wake to a friend passing you the pipe. You grin and take the pipe, look up the the swaying branches above you. They glow. And are like crystals, expanding in the full sun.
Who are your musical influences and idols?
Kevin Barnes of Of Montreal, The Fiery Furnaces, The Kinks, The Smiths, Passion Pit, Washed Out, Grimes, and Small Black.
What was the first album, cassette, or CD you bought with your own money?
Probably Madonna, Tom Petty, The Doors, Syd Barrett.
Your latest offering, Drama, can be downloaded from traditional outlets like Amazon and iTunes, but you are also offering it on cassette tape. Do you think cassettes are ready for a comeback?
They have come back. Weird. But fun!
