Free Download: Weezer, "Un-Break My Heart"

Weezer is releasing a 35-track deluxe verison of Pinkerton on Tuesday. You would think that such a release would leave their vault empty.

You'd be mistaken.

Weezer is also releasing Death To False Metal on November 2nd. Death To False Metal consists of ten songs that Weezer have recorded from the early '90s to the present day that never showed up on any of their studio releases.

One of the ten tracks is a cover of Toni Braxton's "Un-Break My Heart," which the band is letting you download for free.

So what are you waiting for? You know your curiosity is getting to you.

Pay Me $10 Million And I'd Break Up, Shut Up, Throw Up, Anything You Want

Seattle resident James Burns is offering Weezer $10 million to break up. Why?
Every year, Rivers Cuomo swears that he's changed, and that their new album is the best thing that he's done since Pinkerton, and what happens? Another pile of crap like "Beverly Hills" or "I'm Your Daddy."

This is an abusive relationship, and it needs to stop now.

I am tired of my friends being disappointed year after year. I am tired of endless whimsical cutesy album covers and music videos.

I'm sick of hearing about whatever this terrible (and yes, even if you like the early stuff, you should be able to admit that they are wretched now) excuse for a band is up to these days.

If all 852,000 of you (really?) who bought Pinkerton pitch in $12, we will meet our goal.

I beg you, Weezer. Take our money and disappear.
I love Weezer, but my man's got a valid point. I'm one of those people he's talking about. The guy who thinks, "Oh. The new single isn't that bad. I bet the album will be great!" The guy who buys the album and is immediately disappointed. The guy who gets hoodwinked again.

The guy who keeps wishing for another Pinkerton even though there will never be another Pinkerton.

Still, the $10 million dollar offer to break up is a bit harsh, don't you think?

But if someone could set up a fund for Nickelback? I'd be all over that!

OK! Now it's your turn! You have ten million dollars. Which band do you get to break up? Have your say in the comments. GO!

New Pinkerton Due In November

Weezer will release a deluxe edition of Pinkerton on November 2, 2010. The two-CD Pinkerton reissue will contain the original ten tracks and twenty-five extra tracks.

While the prospect of twenty-five Pinkerton-era tracks might make your alt heart flutter, read the fine print before you scurry off to preorder the discs. A good portion of those twenty-five tracks are live or alternate versions of the album's tracks. Hell, eleven of the twenty-five tracks are live or alternate versions of "The Good Life," "El Scorcho," and "Pink Triangle," which admittedly, are Pinkerton's three strongest tracks. But I doubt anyone needs five different verisons of "Pink Triangle."

Here's the full tracklist:

DISC ONE
  1. Tired of Sex
  2. Getchoo
  3. No Other One
  4. Why Bother
  5. Across the Sea
  6. The Good Life
  7. El Scorcho
  8. Pink Triangle
  9. Falling for You
  10. Butterfly
  11. You Gave Your Love to Me Softly
  12. Devotion
  13. The Good Life (Radio Remix)
  14. Waiting on You
  15. I Just Threw Out the Love of My Dreams
  16. The Good Life (Live and Acoustic)
  17. Pink Triangle (Radio Remix)
  18. I Swear It's True
  19. Pink Triangle (Live and Acoustic)
DISC TWO
  1. You Won't Get With Me Tonight
  2. The Good Life (Live at Y100 Sonic Session)
  3. El Scorcho (Live at Y100 Sonic Session)
  4. Pink Triangle (Live at Y100 Sonic Session)
  5. Why Bother? (Live at Reading Festival 1996)
  6. El Scorcho (Live at Reading Festival 1996)
  7. Pink Triangle (Live at Reading Festival 1996)

And yes, despite my griping, I'm sure I'll be purchasing the album.

Weezer Has Memories Of Jackasses

Weezer debuted the video for the first single from Hurley on Thursday. "Memories" features Weezer lip-synching the song as the guys from Jackass perform various stunts.

Weezer + the Jackass guys = 1 very cool video

The song kicks major ass, too.

P.S. Hurley is pretty good. It's not Pinkerton good, but nothing ever will be, people. It's good enough to almost erase the Memories of Raditude. But not entirely.

But "Where's My Sex?" is just as dumb as everyone says it is. "Sex making is a family tradition?" Who the hell wrote the lyrics, Rivers? Borat?

If you feel like giving the album a spin, they're streaming Hurley on MySpace.

All We Wanted Was His Amazing Face

I used to be a pretty big Weezer fan. I thought their first two albums, Weezer (a.k.a The Blue Album) and Pinkerton, were brilliant efforts; I still listen to them both on a fairly regular basis. But they lost me after Pinkerton; of the five albums they've put out since, I'm only familiar with a handful of songs.

In fact, it wasn't until yesterday that I found out Weezer's releasing a new album this year - September 14, four days before my thirty-*cough* birthday. (Just sayin'.)

The album is going to be called Hurley, and yes, this is the cover.

Says Rivers Cuomo, "I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia - it just had this amazing vibe. We didn't want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as 'the Hurley record' even if we left it without that title, so we just called it 'Hurley.' No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face."

AWESOME. Or, as Hurley himself would say, Dude. Awesome.

"Memories," the first single from Hurley, was released today:

Free Download From Weezer

Wow! Two posts vaguely referencing sports in a week? Let's drop the whole '80s thing and start writing about the Yankees.

Weezer released a free single today on iTunes! Rivers wrote the song, "Represent," for the US soccer team. It's a great track and well worth the price of admission.

It's only available for a week, so head on over to iTunes. You can play it tomorrow during the match against England in between chants of U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
