Turtles From Spaaaaaaaace!

News broke awhile ago that Michael Bay was looking to reboot the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. Well Bay talked about his plans for the franchise last week and the news is sure to set off fans of the turtles.

Why?

Instead of following the usual origin story (some turtles fell into some green mutagenic ooze), Bay is thinking that HIS turtles are actually... aliens.

So basically Transformers but green.

But how does that explain the talking rat? Is he an alien too?
Anyway, I am guessing this film will also have:
  • giant explosions
  • a really hot chick
  • sparse plot
Any TMNT fans out there? How does a Bay-sian vision sound to you?

Who Voiced That?

Cracked.com has an awesome article entitled 8 Actors You Won't Believe Voiced Famous Cartoon Characters. I knew that Vin Diesel was the voice of the Iron Giant, but did you know that Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was the voice of Shredder in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon? I sure didn't!

And Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas was the voice of Sally Brown, Charlie Brown's sister! What?

And Howie Mandel was the voice of Gizmo in Gremlins. No way! Go hit the Cracked site for a bunch of neat video interviews and whatnot with all these famous voices.

Was I the only one totally blown away by some of these people's hidden talents?

Turtle Power!

This made me happy: Nickelodeon is bringing a new version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the small screen! It's set to debut late 2012 (boo! now now!) but an early teaser trailer has been released to whet your appetite.

It looks a little darker than usual. Friends of mine have told me over the years that the graphic novels go kinda dark, which surprised me. I mean, they are teenage turtles who like pizza. How dark can that really get?

But it's no Vanilla Ice, that's for sure.

I really just wanted to post that.

Who's stoked for the return of the turtles? (They're green - does that make me safe today?)
